At 9am on Saturday 10th May in glorious sunshine, 31 villagers set off from the church on the annual Beating of the Bounds of Minal Parish. Led by Lynn Scholefield along the ancient Parish Boundary we were rewarded with a varied vista of forest, groves and Wiltshire’s finest rolling fields of green and gold. At selected points of interest, our local guide – Derek Pinchen, gave us fascinating insights into the history, flora and fauna of our Parish.
Rob and Val Bailey really went the “extra mile” with the back up vehicle, welcoming us to the coffee, lunch and afternoon tea stops with food packs, water, chairs and copious cake and biscuits!
15 miles later most of us made it back to the pub for a well earned beer (or two).
Thanks to the volunteers, landowners who gave us access and above all the enthusiastic walkers who made a great day.
