After a damp Coronation day the sun shone for Minal’s Coronation picnic held on the Church field on Sunday 7 May. The bring and share lunch was abundant and thanks to Grove Farm for the delicious burgers and sausages. Organiser, Gilly Price, introduced the event and thanked her team of helpers. The National Anthem was sung and the festivities began. After feasting traditional party games were enjoyed by the children including the sack race and egg and spoon race. The women’s team won the best out of three for the Tug of War and there was lots of cheering. As the sun came out people stayed on beyond the original end time and everyone agreed the Church field made a cosy and sociable place to hold the picnic. Every child in the village was presented with a Coronation mug paid for by the Parish Council.
